Welcome to Fulo Capital

Our story is what defines and differentiates our narrative.
The name fulo means mission.
We don’t describe what we’re doing as investing in student accommodation.
That would be limiting our mission to 4 walls and a bed.

We see it as providing the spaces that allow students to invest in themselves. University facilitates human growth and development – where young adults are given the opportunity to groom their character and their leadership. It’s as much a social education as an academic one.

Our mission is to create positive social impact by giving historically disadvantaged students the spaces that will facilitate their growth, independence, safety, discovery, and potential through university years.

Spaces
for life

For the first time I could learn, I could sleep,
I could walk outside.

I could choose what music I wanted to play.
It was a home for me – a space I could really be.
I had my own voice.

It was the one place I felt my identity as a person,
and envisioned what I wanted for my life.

The experience was invaluable for me.

Our impact: Fulo Capital Student Accommodation Fund I

The student accommodation industry talks about housing and beds. We’re talking about much deeper and wider impact and value creation:

STUDENTS

– 15,000 beds nationally, providing much needed residences in universities located in rural areas, where there is very little student accommodation close to campus.

– Improving the learning environment for disadvantaged learners who are dependent on NFSAS.

– Providing safe, quality, and livable housing, in order for them to thrive whilst pursuing tertiary education.

FISCUS

– Government very likely can’t fulfill this required level of infrastructure, and we’re removing the burden from universities’ balance sheets.

MARKET

– Meeting approximately 5% of the current backlog of student housing in South Africa.

– Providing much needed infrastructure investment, creating both temporary and permanent jobs.

– Enabling the entrance of new black property developers into the lucrative student accommodation market.

INVESTORS

The fund is targeting a moderate to high return.

Fulo Capital Managers is a Level 2 BEE contributor, whose mandate is to invest in social development infrastructure.
